Axion Solutions facilitated the establishment of the New Forest South Deer Management Group to coordinate landscape-scale deer control across diverse landholdings. By serving as a neutral intermediary, the project reconciles stakeholder interests to ensure the long-term ecological health of protected sites.
Labour Market Intelligence Through Automated Web Scraping
Axion developed a proof-of-concept automated web scraping platform to extract real-time labour market intelligence for the engineering construction industry. The system transforms live job vacancy data into actionable workforce demand insights, providing a dynamic complement to traditional survey-based intelligence.
England Green Infrastructure Mapping Database
This project delivered the first national Change Detection Reporting Exercise for England’s Green Infrastructure Mapping Database, establishing a robust five-year benchmark. Axion developed an automation-enabled spatial workflow to distinguish genuine landscape changes from data artefacts, creating a credible long-term monitoring instrument.
Tackling Invasive Species in Derry & Strabane
Axion conducted a district-wide Invasive Alien Species assessment for Derry City & Strabane District Council, mapping infestations across 37 council-managed sites. The study utilized a Traffic-Light Classification system to transition the council from reactive maintenance to a strategic, data-led restoration program.
Partnering with Natural England on NCEA
Axion developed national frameworks and digital infrastructure to transform the coordination and mobilization of citizen science for the NCEA programme. The project combined standardized survey frameworks and an interactive resource library to empower volunteers and align local data with national environmental policy.
Developing Open Mosaic Habitats on Previously Developed Land (OMH) GIS Layer
Axion undertook a comprehensive geospatial update of the national Open Mosaic Habitat inventory, reviewing thousands of habitat polygons across the UK. The project delivered a quality-assured GIS dataset that supports biodiversity net gain and nature recovery commitments through precise aerial imagery interpretation.
